SEEKING A VENUE PARTNER

The biggest hurdle the Project faces is confirming a venue that meets our unique needs and will allow us to operate around the clock.

We are currently seeking a venue partner to work with us in a hire or coproduction arrangement for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Projects, in Brisbane or surrounding areas.

Find out more about the Project below.

Please contact hello@24hmp.com for more information or to provide any suggestions or contacts for suitable venues. We would love to hear from you!

Schedule

The Project schedule runs across three days: Bump In and the Project Weekend. Usually this means we require access to the venue for 4 - 8 hours on Day 1 (bump in and set up) and from approximately 2pm on Day 2 through until 11pm/midnight on Day 3 (final preparation, 24 hour rehearsal period, performance and bump out).

Spaces

  • Theatre/Auditorium (500 - 1000 seats)

  • 4-6 rehearsal spaces (varied sizes may be suitable)

  • Dressing Rooms and additional backstage areas

  • Access to showers

  • Kitchen or servery, or permission to use a space for this purpose*

  • Practice rooms, breakout spaces and/or outdoor areas

At the start of the process we make use of all available spaces, running multiple rehearsals at once; then as the night progresses we transform some rooms and close off others. By Day 2 rehearsals start moving primarily into the theatre space and additional rooms are closed off when they are no longer required.

*Providing consistent access to food/refreshment to our participants is an important element of our care and risk management plan. We self-cater for our participants during the rehearsal period only; we do not seek to provide commercial catering to the public/audience members.

Staff and Tech

Technical requirements are negotiable and may be dependent on the selected show for each Project; however, we can generally operate within the standard lighting rig and we usually supplement in-house sound equipment (running our own inputs and desk through the in-house speakers).

It is advantageous if chairs, music stands, sconces and rostra/staging is available.

The Project operates with a full technical team and crew. Beyond the minimum requirements of your venue, we do not require any additional technical staff. As a community venture, we would prefer to minimise staffing costs and would ideally negotiate only one venue tech on shift at a time, and potentially an on-call arrangement during the overnight hours.
